HYS has a distinguished history rich in arts, education, and environmental awareness. At its roots, the Springs was famous for its iron-rich 'yellow' spring water & its healing properties. During the American Revolution, it was the site of the first military hospital in North America, commissioned by George Washington himself. Today, the land is home to a flourishing art scene that boasts some of the best art shows in the area. HYS has preserved many of the original structures and aims to educate the public about its incredible past.
Did you know? From 1952 to 1974 the village was the headquarters of Good News Productions, a film studio that created the sci-fi original The Blob.
